At NYU, I participated immediately in the activities that I enjoyed in high school, such as joining the Washington Square News as a film reviewer. I've always loved film and had experience on my own high school newspaper, so it seemed a perfect fit for me. Being on the staff of the NYU newspaper gave me so many opportunities --from interviewing celebrities about their films to seeing movies well before their release dates. What I learned, however, was that reporting on film and writing about it wasn't exactly what I wanted to do; I wanted to be the person who actually wrote the films I loved. I came here convinced I wanted to pursue one career track, and am now looking forward to pursuing a different one, all because I stepped out into the city and followed my interests. The experience of writing for the NYU paper influenced me in so many ways.
