MelanieWallner.jpg I am having the time of my life at NYU. The small classes in Liberal Studies have everything to do with why I'm so happy here -- the intellectual bond and comfort level to fully express yourself in class, really unifies LS students with each other and with our professors.

While I am from New York City, I do feel like I am living in a totally new city. Growing up here is very different than studying and living at NYU -- it's even better now. Getting involved on campus and off campus was the best decision I made, helping me to meet some of my closest friends at NYU. I served as a Peer Leader and mentor. I also served as the Head Chair of Community Service for student government, where I planned community service events, including a benefit concert to raise money for Greenpeace. I also served as the Freshman Chair for my Hall Council. This year, I am the Vice President for Liberal Studies student government, leading community service projects and free cultural and social events for LS students. I worked as an intern and the National College Tour Director for a non-partisan youth vote initiative. It seems like NYU has thousands of communities for students to connect with. My advice? Join one community. Join five. Get involved.
