The Liberal Studies Program

Parents

Liberal Studies Parents Association
Since its inception in Fall 2006, the Liberal Studies Program Parents Association has fostered a sense of community among Liberal Studies parents. The group consists of nearly 200 members from across the globe. Through the Association, parents have the opportunity to gain a deeper understanding of Liberal Studies' unique curriculum, to interact with faculty, and to share questions and ideas with one another as well as with Liberal Studies Dean Fred Schwarzbach.

Meetings are held once a semester on Washington Square at which time Dean Schwarzbach informs members about the state of the program and plans for the future. He encourages everyone to play an active role in group discussion and in reaching out to other parents. Parents' active participation has been tremendously valuable to Dean Schwarzbach and to the program as a whole.

Liberal Studies Parents Association members are asked to make a $1,000 gift to the program while board members are asked to contribute $5,000. Membership gifts go toward funding scholarships and academic initiatives for deserving students.
